Healthy Eating Habits, Power Foods, and Sports Fitness Education

The third and final WINForum meeting of 2007 was held on November 28th at Conibear Shell House on the UW campus where 26 high school coaches and sports trainers learned about the importance of good nutrition for peak performance using the USDA Food Guidance System to encourage healthy meal planning as part of athletic conditioning. Invitations were sent to 200 Seattle area high school coaches and trainers.

WINForum presenters Emily Edison, RD, and Trent Greener from UW's Athletic Department, were asked to offer their views on nutrition for athletes from starting their day with breakfast to the importance of eating following physical fitness activities. Edison and Greener advise UW Student athletes on nutrition for peak performance

The WINForum session was digitally recorded by UW Television and will be used on the university's cable channel, as well as being streamed on the UW website.
