Emily EdisonEmily Edison M.S., R.D.
Owner, Momentum Nutrition and Fitness
Former UW Sports Dietitian, Athletics Department

Emily Edison is a Certified Personal Trainer and Registered Dietitian with a primary focus on Sports Nutrition. Her specialties include nutrition for exercise, wellness and the management of eating disorders.
Edison was the Sports Dietitian for the University of Washington Athletics Program and also consulted with UW athletes about fueling before, during and after exercise, and the importance nutrition has on athletic performance. Edison owns her own business, Momentum Nutrition and Fitness. Edison is a member of the American Dietetic Association (ADA) and takes part in the practice groups for Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutrition (SCAN) and Nutrition Entrepreneurs (NE). She is also a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and is an ACSM Certified Health Fitness Instructor. Edison received her B.S. in Nutrition from Washington State University and her M.S. in Nutrition with a focus on Sports Nutrition from Marywood University in Scranton, PA.


Alysun DeckertAlysun Deckert M.S., R.D., C.D.
Clinical Dietitian, University of Washington Medical Center


Alysun Deckert M.S., R.D., C.D. is the Founder of Team Transplant for the University of Washington Medical Center. She divides her time between working on the nutritional needs of organ transplant recipients and patients with other medical issues. With a specialty in promoting wellness through nutrition, exercise and patient empowerment, Deckert serves on the advisory committees for the UW Sports Medicine and Human Performance Certification Program and the UW School of Public Health. She is active in the American Dietetic Association (ADA), and the United States Track and Field Association (USATF).
Alysun received her B.S. in Nutrition Science and Exercise Science at Kansas State University before continuing her education earning her M.S. in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Washington. In addition to her involvement at UW, Deckert was also a U.S. Olympic Women’s Marathon Team Trials Qualifier who placed 13th in the 2003 Boston Marathon. She also won the women’s division of the Seattle Half Marathon in 1998.


John O'Kane
John O’Kane, M.D.
Associate Professor, UW Medicine Department of Orthopeadics and Sports Medicine
UW Head Team Physician.


Dr. O’Kane is an associate professor of orthopeadics and sports medicine and UW head team physician. He also holds an adjunct appointment in the Department of Family Medicine. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Dartmouth College and his M.D. from the University of Vermont in Burlington, and then came to the UW for his residency in family medicine. He also completed a primary care sports fellowship in the UW Department of Orthopeadics and Sports Medicine.

Dr. O’Kane specializes in sports medicine and practices at the UW Sports Medicine Clinic.



Susan AdamsSusan Adams, M.S., R.D.


Susan Adams is a clinical dietitian and nutrition education and media consultant in the Seattle area. From 2007-2011 she was an assistant professor and program director for the Bachelor of Applied Science program in Food Service Management at Central Washington.
Previously, she worked at the University of Washington in Seattle, as a research dietitian.
During 1999-2004 she was a faculty member with Washington State University cooperative Extension in Seattle, where she supervised the Extension Family Nutrition Education Program for culturally diverse families with limited resources.
As a national media spokesperson with the American Dietetic Association and a media consultant she has conducted hundreds of media interviews about food, nutrition and health. She has been quoted by the New York Times, The Seattle Times, Red Book, Good Housekeeping, Seventeen Magazine, Ladies’ Home Journal and Men’s Health, as well as local television news programs affiliated with NBC, CBS and ABC.


Monica Van WinkleMonica Van Winkle, M.S., R.D., C.D.
Sports Dietitian for the University of Washington Athletics Department

Monica Van Winkle is a registered dietitian specializing in sports nutrition, weight management and the nutritional management of eating disorders. She works as a dietary consultant and Sports Dietitian for the University of Washington Athletics Department.
Monica’s three-hour “Nurition Essentials” course is accredited by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association for three coaches clock hours of continuing education.
Monica earned a B.A. at the University of Washington and a M.S. degree in Nutrition from Boston University.






Brian KrabakBrian Krabak M.D., M.B.A.,
Clinical Associate Professor, Rehabilitation, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine
University of Washington Seattle Children’s Hospital


Dr. Krabak joined the UW faculty in 2007. He is an expert in sports medicine, particularly in issues affecting endurance athletes (swimming, running, triathlons, cycling) and baseball injuries. He is currently a team consultant for the University of Washington Athletics Department, High Performance Physician with USA Swimming and Medical Director for Racing The Planet.
Krabak holds medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, an M.B.A. from Carey Business School at Johns Hopkins University, and completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Mayo Clinic.
In addition to his involvement at UW, Dr. Krabak was a physician for the 2002 Winter Olympics, 2004 Summer Olympics and has competed in more than 30 endurance athletic events including Ironman Triathlons, XTERRA and Trans-Rockies Mountain Biking Races and Marathons.


Michelle Weinbender
Michelle Weinbender R.D.,

Sacred Heart Medical Center – Spokane


Michelle Weinbender has worked with adults and adolescents with eating disorders at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center for more than ten years. In 2007, she was named ‘Outstanding Dietitian’ of the year by the Washington State Dietetic Association.

Michelle obtained her B.S. in Food Service and Nutrition and B.A. in Psychology from Central Washington University.




Kelly Pritchett
Kelly Pritchett, PhD, R.D., C.S.S.D

Assistant Professor, Sports Nutrition, Central Washington University

Kelly Pritchett, PhD, RD, CSSD is a Registered Dietitian with a PhD in Exercise Physiology, and a WINForum nutrition adviser and clinic presenter. She works as an assistant professor, sports nutrition, clinical nutrition and eating disorders at Central Washington University. She is a board-certified specialist in Sports Dietetics, consulting with both elite and collegiate athletes as well as with active individuals. While at the University of Alabama, she competed on their swimming and diving team. She recently qualified to run in the Boston Marathon.

Kelly is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Dietetics Association, and the Sports and Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutrition (SCAN) practice group. She also recently became a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD).


Barb Pullar
Barb Pullar M.S., R.D

Nutritional Dietitian at Harborview Medical Center

Barb Pullar MS RD received her graduate degree in nutritional science/dietetics from UW and now works as a nutritional dietitian at Harborview Medical Center. She is a WINForum presenter and supports our community manager in providing current and accurate information. She is a passionate marathon & long distance runner, competitive cyclist and nutrition adviser for the ‘Rat City Roller Girls’ – an all-female, amateur, flat-track roller derby league. Barb is a writer/editor and UW graduate student nutrition lecturer, conducting nutrition wellness presentations to various groups. Prior to her graduate studies, she worked in foodservice where she developed menus and managed up to 90 employees.
